Jon and Juli run a grassfed, organic dairy farm milking a herd of Jerseys. Pasture management and intensive grazing are critical to this operation. Jon will show us various pastures, describe some of the forages he uses, and how he manages the pastures to their best productivity.
Directions: From Corvallis, take 99W NORTH. Pass Sarah Helmick State Park. 1.3 miles north of the park, turn LEFT (west) onto Parker Rd. At the ‘T’, turn RIGHT onto Helmick Rd. After only 100+ yards, turn LEFT (west) onto Elkins Rd. Drive 4 miles on Elkins Rd. Farm is on the RIGHT. Wear clean boots.

DLF Pickseed is a global company dealing in forage seed, turf seed, and other crops. Breeding and developing new forage cultivars is an exacting science, and the research takes years and good facilities. DLF Pickseed has an active research program in many forage species. Jerome Magnuson, Forage & Organic Specialist, and other staff will show us around this very interesting facility.
Directions: From Corvallis, drive WEST on Route 20/34 to Philomath. As you enter Philomath, at a stoplight, turn LEFT onto 19th. Drive to ‘T’, then turn LEFT onto Chapel Drive. Research Farm is the 2nd driveway on the RIGHT.

This is a new meat-processing USDA-inspected plant owned by Anderson Ranches and built to the highest standards. Its humane animal handling facility was designed to follow the recommendations of Temple Grandin.

Get to Brownsville. From Brownsville, drive EAST on Route 228 for 2.1 miles. Turn RIGHT (South) onto Courtney Creek Drive. Go 1 mile to the facility.

Pam runs a grass-based purebred Angus cattle operation based on intensively-managed pastures. The fields have been renovated with various forages. We’ll walk through some pastures, discuss the management and history of these fields. Also get a chance to see an efficient, hydraulic-equipped cattle-handling facility.
Directions — From the North:
From Corvallis, drive SOUTH on 99E for approx. 17 miles. In Monroe, turn RIGHT onto Territorial Road. After 4.4 miles, turn LEFT (East) onto Ferguson Road. After approx. 1 mile, come to the Conser Quarry and turn LEFT at the gate, which is next to a big flag pole. Meet at the red shop and barns.
Directions — From the South:
Get to Junction City. At the North end town, turn LEFT onto Hwy 99W, past the Safeway. Drive 1.9 miles and then turn LEFT onto Ferguson Road. Go 2.4 miles to Conser Quarry and turn RIGHT at the first gate, which is next to a big flag pole. Meet at the red shop and barns.
Then drive to Springfield for the OFGC/OSGA Convention!
