Farmer, writer, philosopher, Jim VanDerPol is well-known in the grazing world. His “Pasture A Plenty” family farm raises grass-fed beef cattle, farrow-to-finish hogs, and free-range poultry in western Minnesota. Jim and his family have built a meats business in order to stay in the livestock business, changing his farming to emphasize grass and perennial crops. Jim also writes a monthly column for GRAZE magazine and has written the book “Conversations with the Land”, a superb collection of his personal reflections on farming, pastures, and living on the land.
